Feature Article Contact Lenses Correct Far-Sightedness in Your Sleep Apr. 15 - Australian researchers are working with a new type of contact lens that could help correct your vision while you sleep. The new lenses put gentle pressure on the cornea while their user is sleeping slowly reshaping the eye and correcting some vision problems. Researchers say those who have used the lenses have shown rapid improvement with their eyesight after just a few days. The degree of myopia, or far-sightedness, that one experiences determines the amount of use that is needed. Many patients can get by with using the lenses just a few nights a week but others must wear them every night. A pair of the corrective contacts costs roughly $900 dollars. Dr. Helen Swarbrick, optometrist said, "Within 10 minutes, you're getting measurable changes with the cornea. After one hour we can take someone about half-way down the letter chart" Nina tahhan, research manager said, "I used to wear contact lens and spectacles and I couldn't go the whole day with the other lenses I were wearing - they would dry out." ----------------------------------------------------------------- ASK THE DOCTOR SPONSOR The Homemaker`s Journal is an e-mail newsletter published Mon- Fri that poses fun questions to readers about organizing, crafting, gardening, frugal living and other homemaking subjects; readers can respond to the questions and receive the resulting, very informative `tip sheet`. Preventative Medicine Wearing disposable contacts too long means trouble The longer you wear your contacts, the more dirt, mucous, proteins, and minerals build up. Besides blurring your vision, that gunk also hurts-leaving your eyes dry and raw. In fact, studies show that up to 30% of people who develop ulcers and infections from their contacts think they're following the maker's directions correctly. Better reread those directions while you can. ----------------------------------------------------------------- CLASSIFIED AD **Discover A New Breakthrough In Compensation** Get your FREE TRIAL Membership NOW!
